Civic Projects has partnered with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) on Capital Development improvements over the past three years as a pre-qualified firm, supporting efforts from project scoping through design, construction, and permit documentation. Their work has included pre-K and kindergarten classroom conversions, the development of STEM classrooms, and accessibility upgrades across multiple school sites. Currently, Civic Projects is focused on enhancing fine arts and performance spaces at three CPS schools, including a major auditorium renovation.

As part of these efforts, the firm is leading two theater renovation projects—at Julian High School on Chicago’s South Side and Rogers Elementary School on the North Side. At Julian, Civic Projects is collaborating with CharcoalBlue Theatrical Consultants and Rachel Levy Designs to revitalize a 1970s-era auditorium, stage, and sound booth, along with the band and choir practice rooms. The project features restoration of the band stage pit, installation of modern lighting and AV systems, and comprehensive upgrades to seating, flooring, and acoustics. These improvements aim to transform Julian High School into a magnet for performing arts in the region. Civic Projects is also advancing personalized learning environments and pre-K classroom upgrades throughout the district.
